Since you insist on continuing this baseless bickering and disrupting of the
newsgroups your posts are being filtered and deleted from the Microsoft news
    servers. You have been banned.

I suspect that my 'off topic' post was removed as all of my other posts
    are still here.

I will refrain from entering into this troll war as much as possible - I
apologize to the group for being off-topic.

Stop morphing-I am having a hard time keeping up!

I'll tell you what,if you spent untold hours developing a removal tool
and someone put their name on it,you would be pissed off a lot more
than you are now. Perhaps you should be looking for instructions on how
to PREVENT infections in the first place.

If this link was known, why wasn't it posted at the VERY beginning of this
mess. That is the tool that will clean WinFixer. Does the author not
frequent the newsgroups to offer his help, and in turn get the credit for
it? Thanks for finally posting the fix.

Because as we were always saying, the person who sent you the email is NOT to be trusted.
He has no scruples. He could have posted the URL at the very beginning. He chose not to
post the information for unknown reasons.

What was the intent in that ?

News Groups are for the benefit of all. If one posts a problem, the resolution is posted as
a reply so subsequent readers will gain benefit from that reply as well.

I only received information on what he was sending out via email this afternoon.
I posted the information without haste for ALL to have immediate benefit without having to
have to email him or anyone else.

The author of VirtumundoBeGone.exe is not a regular here. He is a regular on the McAfee
    Forums http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/index.php

Using the tool, you can send the author email and tell him/her what happened here. You can
also choose to make a PayPal donation.

I have been harassed for over 6 months now by both the stalker Leythos and
David. Every post I make gets criticized, just like this one will. I
reported over 3 weeks ago that there was a fix and where to get it. That got
ignored because of the flame war started by both David H Lipman and Leythos
the stalker. That link has even been posted at lease 3 times by Jim Byrd
MVP. I don't have control over what people choose to read in these groups
but email is different. I have helped well over 111 people with that tool
including you. In fact it was your post that said it had worked that started
the flood of emails to me. Most had referenced your post in their emails. I
don't know if you had noticed or not but the replies you got from your post
from both David and especially leythos were condescending and criticizing
you for even sending me an email, they could care less about your problem.
They both were pissed because I had a fix that worked. Not once did they ask
me for it. Even now if you read David's response he is still trying to
discredit me by suggesting I did something wrong by not posting the link and
not giving credit to the author. I contacted the author after you said it
worked and I gave him credit. I also asked him if it was ok to send it to
others in need. His answer was yes as long as I point them to his link in
the forum. I have done that. That is how Leythos found it because he was
looking for dirt anything he can to discredit me for providing a fix so he
stooped so low as to email someone who I sent the fix to and asked them for
the name of the program. I'm sure he was hoping I would say that it was my
program, He was disappointed. Leythos not once offered any help to anyone on
this topic. I am an expert in Spyware and an expert in using Hijackthis.
This fix has been posted in my forums for a while now. I do not post the
names of those forums because of the Stalkers mentioned before, however they
are well known and get plenty of traffic. Now before Leythos or David
contacts the author and starts complaining about me calling me pcbutts1, my
name is Sharon and the author knows me by that name. Feel free to contact
him to verify what I have just said.

Butts, I didn't go looking for anything. The email that you sent a
person that asked you for help was sent to me. In that email it
contained a Zip file and no credit was given to the author of the file.
The second email that was sent to me did contain a link to the website
on the Mcafee forum, but again, nothing in the email you sent the person
indicated any credit to the author of the tool.

I didn't go looking for the site, didn't go looking for people to send
files, etc.. the email was provided TO ME. I have not and don't intend
on contacting the author of the current tool you are distributing
without credit to the author in your dealings with the people you email.

No one disputes that you have files at your reach that can clean system,
I don't recall anyone ever saying that the files you distribute don't
work. The simple fact is that you distribute them without giving credit
to the authors, that you've been caught red-handed changing the credits
notice in batch files to show your nickname and not the authors, and
that you don't provide the links to the files at the authors/vendors
mirrors/site, you actually copy them to your server and distribute them
without the users even seeing the vendors/authors site/information.

You need to get off the stalking BS and start acting like a respectable
member of the community - put up a web page with the authors information
and a link to the real authors site (like 99% of us do) or post links to
the authors site - it's a real bad move to get people to download
unknown files from unknown sites and run them on blind faith - that's
how malware gets started most times - blinding doing what we all tell
people to not do for security reasons. Heck, you didn't even include the
MD5 checksum for the tool/file in the two emails you sent the people
    that I was copied on.
You have posted in the same style and even from the same nodes as
PCBUTTS1 and even used the same email address as pubutts1 has in other
posts, so, you are PCBUTTS1 or what-ever you are calling yourself now
    Chris.

To be perfectly honest here, I don't know anything about any of you
personally, and the turns that this thread has been taking it is hard to
tell the good guys from the bad. I am very trusting of the people that
offer their help and expertise here. It was hard for me to trust an
attachment in an e-mail from someone I didn't know, but like I said I was
desperate for a fix. I was in a special bind when I originally posted the
problem from my daughter's computer because I was just visiting for a day or
two and had to get it fixed for her. I have since researched and found the
location of VirtumundoBeGone.exe, but I still didn't know who developed it.
I have already thanked the person who helped me, and now I will go to the
McAfee Forum and give credit where credit is due. I appreciate very much
the help that I receive here. Thank you all.

Again, thank you for your help in my time of need. There is one thing that
I am going to have to do, and that is to learn more on how to use the
newsgroups. I don't know how to search in Outlook Express for past
discussions on the problem at hand. If I had I might have found the post by
Jim Byrd. I did contact the person by e-mail on McAfee Forum that was
supposed to have developed the tool that you sent to me. He e-mailed me
back and said that it would be impossible for someone else to take credit
for the work he had done because he had a welcome screen at the beginning of
the fix. I don't remember seeing that welcome screen, but my memory is not
what it used to be. Anyway, no matter to me who wrote the thing, it worked,
and I appreciate very much the help.

    Finding newsgroup messages:
    Two main choices
#1. Use your newsreader; the directions are in the 'Help' file of
Outlook Express. The search function of Outlook Express will only search
headers you have download, and search posts you have downloaded.

#2. Use Google. Google will search across newsgroups and will
search ALL posts from a few hours from the present to years in the past.
    a. Google has the archieves of all Usenet newsgroups (and
defacto Usenet newsgroups like the microsoft.public.* constellation. These
google archieves extend years into the past, while news servers hold posts
for a limited time that depends on who is maintaining the server.
    b. To use Google newsgroup search to search in Usenet
    newsgroups
    (1.) go to http://www.google.com/
(2.) left click on [groups] (above the fill-in
    slot)
(3.) right click on [advanced search] (to the
right of the 'Search Groups' button
(4.) fill in the search information in the
    appropriate slots
    (5.) Example searches
    (a.) entering
    microsoft.public.security.virus in the 'Group' slot
    AND
    David H. Lipman in the
    'Author' slot
    returns ~ 3330 cites
(b.) entering the words [ virus
remove ] in the 'with all of the words' slot
    AND
    microsoft.public.security.virus
    in the 'Group' slot
    AND
    David H. Lipman in the
    'Author' slot
    returns ~ 534 cites
(c.) entering the words [ Swen
worm ] in the 'with all of the words' slot
    AND
    microsoft.public.security.virus
    in the 'Group' slot
    AND
    Phil Weldon in the 'Author'
    slot
    returns ~ 261 cites.

I think form this you can see that David H. Lipman is a very frequent poster
(in fact I am suprised there were not a lot more cites). Though I have
worked with computers since 1965, my experience with malware is fairly
limited, and I try to restrain my posts to subjects with which I have some
    experience.

Keep in mind that 'Google Groups' are not the same as Usenet newsgroups, and
tend to be frequented by less knowledgeable users.

I use the google search to find information and ALSO to check the
reliability of posters based on looking at the range of what they have
posted and checking some of the replies. Of course, some posters change
their name quite often to defeat this kind of check-up.

I hope this helps, and makes newsgroups more valuble to you.

    Phil Weldon

  20. I just wanted to say thank you to David. I used your tool and my computer
seems to be all better again. I had the same problem as everyone else on
here. Even though David's tool took a long time, it was well worth it because
    it worked.

    Thank you.
