Windows XP Professional - Password Problem

Discussion in 'Computer Security' started by =?Utf-8?B?YnVkZHk=?=, Jun 9, 2005.

  1. Hi,
I am having a bit of a problem. My brother has a computer in his room, and
he has decided to make himself and himself alone the computer administrator.
The other day he comes to me and asks if he forgets his password, is there
anyway of being able to either log on as him or to make someone else an
administrator so they can change his password. I said no. So he tried to
remember what his password is, but after a few days i dont think he will
    remeber.

Is there anyway of either making someone else and administrator or any way i
can fix this (preferably without having to reload windows)??

    Thanks

  3. During windows setup there is a step where you enter an Admisitrator
    Password.

At the Welcome screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete twice. Instead of your
username, Type in "Administrator". Now type in the password that you entered
    during windows setup.

If you didn't enter a password, than the password field can be blank.
