Windows XP Professional 64 and Norton Internet Security

Discussion in 'Computer Security' started by =?Utf-8?B?UmljayBNY0JyYXllcg==?=, Dec 15, 2005.

  1. I tried to load NIC 2006 and it will not load with a message - needs 2000
    service pack 3 or greater. What can I do to install this software or what
    internet security software is compatable with XP 64?

  2. Hi !

    As far as I know Norton products are not compatiable for 64 bit versions.
    Most antivirus companies doesn't have 64 bits programs

    Nod 32 is compatiable with 64 bit XP (you need to pay for it-normal
    subscription)

    Also Avast home editions (free version ) is also compatiable with 64 bit
    However ,I strongly recommend you NOT to use Avast because it isn't good.
    Nod 32 is better than Avast.

    Ok,here is the main web site of Nod 32 (by the way ,the company which has
    created Nod is called Eset)
    http://www.eset.com

    Here is their site where you can download 30 day free trial version:
    http://www.eset.com/download/trial.htm

    It is strongly recommended to update it and immediately perform full scan.
    Also check all settings and make sure you have ON the following:
    using heuristic
    using signature files
    scanning all files + compressed
    and things like that.

    Also make sure you have all updates for the Windows downloaded.

  3. Thank you very much. I am surprised that the higher profile internet
    security software companies have not been able to or wanted to get something
    on the market.
