SSL and Padlock Symbol

Discussion in 'Computer Security' started by =?Utf-8?B?Ym95IGF0bGFudGlz?=, Dec 16, 2005.

  1. I am not concious of having made any changes to the set up of my PC, however,
over the past couple of days 2 things have changed. Firstly, when accessing
my bank no Padlock symbol is being displayed in the bottom right hand corner
of my browser. I can check on the validity of the certificate by
right-clicking on the page which brings up the details I require. Secondly,
when opening up my browser (IE6) and accessing a web page I used to see a
progress bar at the bottom of the browser to indicate the progress of the
download - this no longer happens. Are the 2 things related somehow - i.e.
has something changed in my browser set up? Advise anyone please

You may have inadvertently disabled the Status Bar. Go to View and
    enable it.

  3. Thanks a lot Malke - now all is well again. Can't think why I didn't realise
the solution myself - must be a sign of old age I guess. Grateful non the
less and take this opportunity of wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy
    New Year
