  1. SpyBoy keeps removing a DSO Exploit....and it keeps coming back! What
    can I do?

For the past few days SpyBot has been finding the following:
    DSO EXPLOIT
    Data Source Object Exploit
    HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Internet
    Settings\Zones\0\1004!=W=3

If, after I have SpyBot remove this DSO Exploit, I reboot and rerun
SpyBot it finds the same DSO Exploit.

This occurs even if I run both scans in Safe Mode.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of this problem?

As widely mentioned, it is a false positive.

  3. Thanks!
I remember this happened once in the past where SpyBot kept finding a
particular malware until the next update.

I had the same problem. Updated to Spybot Ver. 1.4 last night and
    problem seems to be solved.

  5. I believe I have 1.4. Interestingly, I have the problem on Spybot on
one machine but not on the other.

    Daniél,

According to the reports here, the false positive DSO Exploit was
encountered on some systems with SpyBot S&D 1.4 as well.

    Could be.

I was following the thread 'cause I had the same problem, saw the post
about new version of Spybot (I had 1.3) and decided to update.

Ver. 1.4 reported DSO Exploit, fixed it and I immediately shut down
and started up to see if it really was gone, which it was. I was born
suspicious! Next morning I immediately ran Spybot again and still
nothing about DSO Exploit so I thought I'd put in my penny's worth.

Perhaps it has something to do with individual setups, I really
wouldn't know as I'm still new to XP, only upgraded recently. I still
had an ancient PC (500 mhz processor and 120mb ram - felt like
cranking it up with a handle sometimes!!) from way back till a few
    weeks ago.

  8. Just checked - I do have 1.3, but there's a new update. I'll see if it
    gets rid of this problem.

You should definitely be using Spybot 1.4. The DSO Exploit finding is a
bug and you can simply ignore it.

  10. I have used S&D 1.3 and 1.4 on various computers and on most it has
consistently found 5 DSOs. If, as I suspect, this is a bug isn't it about
time it was fixed. If it isn't a bug why does it keep on finding them after
they have been dealt with? Something isn't right here!!

    Regards.

Maybe you should take up a new business like knitting scarves for older
    persons.

  12. The DSO exploit seems to have dissappeared with the update to Spybot
    yesterday.
