Is there a virus description site on the Internet.?
I found some viruses on my computer and I'm interested in knowing what
effect they had on my computer.

    Regards Brian

  2. The site of your scanner's vendor is best, as it will use the
    same names.
F-Secure's site always has good descriptions. Sophos is good
for some. And there's always Google.

Since each company tends to name a given infector differently then other vendors, you need
to go to the AV vendors library/encyclopedia.

    Examples:

    McAfee

    Symantec

    Generic

    Trend Micro

    Sophos

    Grisoft/AVG

There is, unfortunately, little naming agreement among the various
av vendors. You can do a Google search on a malware name and sometimes
find descriptions ... and you also might find alias names which you
can use to search further for descriptions. With newer malware,
descriptions of a particular variant may not yet be available
    anywhere.
