(If you use one of the ISPs above, then read on.)

I use SBC Global DSL and get my mail via Thunderbird. Global uses Yahoo
web mail as an intermediary stop off for mail. Probably 99 % of my
expected mail makes it down to TB. I may get about 5 pieces of spam per day.

However, if I go to the Yahoo web mail, I find about 40 spam messages in
the SPAM folder, and maybe 1 or so messages I would like to see. I move
them over to the Yahoo mail Send Box, and the next time I use TB, they
are pulled down. I use Yahoo filtering at the web point.

Is the amount of spam I see with your observations, if you use Yahoo as
above? My wife, who uses the same ISP and Linux, gets zero spam on the
    web mail site.
