FIREWALL GREYED OUT

Discussion in 'Security Software' started by Chuck Le Mieux, Aug 18, 2006.

  1. Anybody have suggestions on how to get my firewall packaged with Windows XP
Home edition to work? No matter what I try it stays greyed out.

Virus protection and updates work fine just the firewall can't be turned on.

If so , check your computer for malicious software

  3. Hi Chuck,

I believe the information on http://windowsxp.mvps.org/sharedaccess.htm will
tell you what you need to know to resolve this.

  4. Hello,

As Panda_Man suggested, you may have to be an administrator. One way to
discover your "priv's" is by using the command line utility.

Open command: type.... netsh firewall show config. If you have admin
priv's, you will get all the info. If not, I believe it will tell you
    otherwise.
