My Laptop running win2k is behaving very strangely ... all files with
a filename starting with "sound*" are hidden. They are invisible to
the "dir" command and the explorer, but they are still there. The same
happens to directories named sound*. I haven't found anybody who has
encountered this before. Is this possibly a virus?

    tia,

it's possible that it's death rays from mars, but who knows...

generally it's not possible to diagnose a virus problem by symptoms
and/or filenames... if you think you have a virus, scan your drive...
if you think you have a virus your scanner can't detect, try a
different scanner or send a suspect file to your anti-virus developer
    for analysis...

  3. Hole in the ozone allowing increased radiation causing disruption in
magnetic fields resulting in random file property changes.
