Files hidden on server. Weird

  1. I am currently running Windows 2000 Back Office server. This server is
running Exchange 2000, SQL Server 2000 and IIS. I run Norton Corporate
Anti-virus software on it. I am current on Service Packs and I think I am
current on patches. Here is the problem.

When using Windows Explorer to look for files, they seem to be missing. Ex.
Any file that starts with "Default" in a root web seems to be missing. One
of the files needed to run the antivirus software seems to be missing. There
are probably others that I don't know about. I have set the options to show
hidden files and also system files. If I boot up in safe mode, it is the
    same.

If I use Windows Explorer from another computer to view the server across
the network, all of the files are there. I have scanned the system using
other virus software but cannot find anything. I have also searched for
spyware. I do not know where in Windows these files can be filtered out.

    Any help is appreciated,

    Phil
