Antivirus software for NT 4.0

Discussion in 'Virus Information' started by =?Utf-8?B?VmVsZXpNY0d1aXJl?=, Feb 8, 2005.

  1. Running NT 4.0 SP5. Have Norton Antivirus 2000 for which symantec no longer
provides update subscriptions. Norton Antivirus upgrades won't run on NT. I'm
told the same is true of McKaffe. Do I have to upgrade my OS? Help!

  2. Yes, you do need to upgrade the OS !

NT4 Workstation lost all support on/about July '04. NT4 Server on Dec 31 '04. There are
versions of McAfee that will run on NT4 but NT4 is a DEAD OS.

I am a little bit surprised. I have NT at work and we use with success
SystemSuite 5 from VCom. It's in french. I don't know if there is an english
    version but it's great.

I know ist old but it bothers me anyways :)

Its 2012 and people still use Windows 2000 even! Anyhow there is a NT Patch. (100% Legal) It replaces one puny file and makes the AV ready to run in NT
So NO you do NOT have to conform and update your OS.

Therefore you can/could update your Norton 2000
I am looking for that file to archive myself. It shouldnt be hard to get. Well- I said my peace.

EDIT: I learned it was for NAV 2001 that was out in 2000. I found the patch. Does it apply to the 2000 version? winxp76-DOT-com/Bunker (Look under AntiVirus in the NAV Subfolder)
