Website security form hackers and virus

Recently i have heard attacks on major websites by hackers. Just worried about websites using cms like wordpress and drupal. Search in Google for solutions, but i did not get any perfect solution. Just want to ask from this forum, what should be the strategy for website owners and what solutions they should search for.
