W32/Gokar Description
W32/Gokar is a mass-mailing worm that is designed to infect machines running Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP. W32/Gokar propagates as an email attachment. Once it is executed, W32/Gokar will try to spread via mIRC by overwriting the script.ini file of the mIRC client. W32/Gokar also scans your hard disks and searches for email addresses. Then W32/Gokar will send its copies to all addresses found in your machine's Outlook address book. In addition, W32/Gokar may terminate several processes related with anti-virus and anti-spyware applications.
Remove W32/Gokar
To remove all W32/Gokar files, you must kill all W32/Gokar processes that are running in your computer's memory. To kill W32/Gokar processes, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab, search for W32/Gokar, then right-click it and select "End Process" key.
You'll also need to remove W32/Gokar registry keys. To remove W32/Gokar registry keys, click on the Windows "Start" button and select "Run" to open Windows Registry Editor. A window will popup. Type "regedit" into the box, and click "OK". Search for the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareW32/Gokar." Right-click it and select "Delete."
Finally, you'll need to manually delete other malware files to clean your PC of W32/Gokar. These W32/Gokar can be in the form of EXE, DLL, LSP, TOOLBAR, BROWSER HIJACK, and/or BROWSER PLUGIN. For example, W32/Gokar might create a file like
%PROGRAM_FILES%W32/GokarW32/Gokar.exe. Locate and remove these files.
