CD-ROM Trojan Description
CD-ROM Trojan is a malicious application that allows the attacker to control CD-ROM drive of the infected PC. It is quite simple and provides only few functions. The server part of CD-ROM Trojan starts automatically on every computer startup and remains loaded into memory. It is able to open or close CD-ROM tray and show a simple text message. Some rare versions of this spyware exist, which can perform other annoying actions and take screenshots of user activity. Although CD-ROM Trojan is quite harmful, it is recommended to completely remove it from the computer, prohibiting unauthorized remote access to your PC.
Remove CD-ROM Trojan
To remove all CD-ROM Trojan files, you must kill all CD-ROM Trojan processes that are running in your computer's memory. To kill CD-ROM Trojan processes, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab, search for CD-ROM Trojan, then right-click it and select "End Process" key.
You'll also need to remove CD-ROM Trojan registry keys. To remove CD-ROM Trojan registry keys, click on the Windows "Start" button and select "Run" to open Windows Registry Editor. A window will popup. Type "regedit" into the box, and click "OK". Search for the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareCD-ROM Trojan." Right-click it and select "Delete."
Finally, you'll need to manually delete other malware files to clean your PC of CD-ROM Trojan. These CD-ROM Trojan can be in the form of EXE, DLL, LSP, TOOLBAR, BROWSER HIJACK, and/or BROWSER PLUGIN. For example, CD-ROM Trojan might create a file like
%PROGRAM_FILES%CD-ROM TrojanCD-ROM Trojan.exe. Locate and remove these files.
