This pest originated in April, 2003. It requires at least 29 kb for storage. A RAT is a application designed for hackers ant virtual hooligans. The hacker infects his victim's computer with a "server" application via the e-mail or the File and Print Sharing. Once inside the computer, this application opens a random port and awaits commands from the intruder. The functions of a RAT may vary depending on the needs of the attacker. Some were designed as a simple virtual prank. They are able to restart the PC, open CD-rom drive etc. Others provide the hacker with unlimited access to all information, including passwords, bank accounts, personal data etc.
