I have been using Spybot for over a year and it has served me well.
However, an IT pro told me that this software and others like it are just as
bad as the spyware it finds. He says that it can actually spy on you. I
find this hard to believe but was wondering if anyone can shed some light on
this.

Regards,

Alfie

Alfie, the IT Pro is wrong. Anyone that says that is to be suspect as being
in cahoots with the malware purveyors.

Google for Spybot S&D and find out for yourself.

I agree. These rumours started ages ago when the programs where first
released. I have done extensive testing on both these programs and can
find no evidence that they spy on you. I am a retired IT Pro and some
IT specialists including one I worked with like to pontificate about
things they think they know without trying things out for themselves.
Thanks and Regards
James

Thanks guys. I didn't really believe it but I'm no expert so I had to ask.

Regards.

He is confusing Spybot with another program. Spybot is clean.
