I am have trouble with (2) things:

1) I goto a website and certain words are highlighted as
if they were a link. Example words: mortgage, house, car,
etc.

2) When I do a search on google, it is slow and does not
turn over to the google search, but instead goes to
another search that looks like google.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Mark

Make sure you are typing in "www.google.com" because if
you type in something like "googles.com" or "gogle.com",
you'll be taken somewhere else.

If you are sure you are going to Google but you are
instead sent to an alternate website/search engine, you
probably have malware on your computer.

Download/install Ad-Aware and/or Spybot Search & Destroy
to help you get rid of whatever malware may be responsible
for this problem.

"I goto a website" to which I can only say "what bloody website?". Just one
website? Every website? If you could provide a URL where you see this effect
it might save an eternity of guessing. I ask this for a serious reason -- if
someone else looks at this website and sees the same thing it could be
perfectly normal which eliminates one problem immediately. There is no
reason at all, besides convention and W3C suggestions, that any text at all
can't be made to look exactly like a link; color underlining etc are all up
to the page author's whim.

John:

Actually, there *is* spyware that causes this.

No doubt there is. But if the OP would be kind enough to tell us where he is
seeing it there could be some confirmation. As it is there is "a website"
and that is not the same as "every website" and there is a huge gulf of
possibilities between the two.

Sounds like Ezula hot text,to me.

There again, some sites do highlight words. If you hover
your cursor over the highlighted text, sometimes you find
it is indeed a hyperlink, trying to take you to a location
where hopefully you'll buy the related item.Other
times,it's just an expanded definition of the word.
In neither of these instances does it mean you have Ezula
onboard.
