I've been noticing that TCPview seems to reflect this site
(deploy.akamaitechnologies.com) quite a bit when connecting to various
sites (sometimes it opens on its own). I've tried to put blocks in my
HOSTS file to no avail. Would this have anything to do with a trial
version of Spy Sweeper that I loaded? I also have a feeling that ISP's use
this site for some sort of help (or to catalogue info)!

Theya re a server service for many companies that deploy updates. This includes anti virus

Akamai is a web-content provider.
Blocking them via a HOSTS file will cause issues.
Some Akamai content is malicious - as seen here:

How so?

That's the HOSTS file. It's full of "Akamai"

I'm not trying to be a smartass. No one could be more dedicated than you
are. But for once, you have me confused... :-)

Yes, the MVPS HOSTS File has *some* Akamai that (needs) to
be blocked.

Tough for me to address HOSTS file questions since I don't compile the file.
The Akamai that's in the file is there for a reason, but, blocking the Akamai
site entirely via your HOSTS file will cause issues in delivering genuine web
content - if you follow my meaning :-)
